TriageTriage appointments are for problems that need urgent attention on the same day.
If no appointments are available on the day, patients with urgent problems are ‘triaged’.
It is not possible to see the doctor of your choice for these appointments.
Urgent requests are given prompt attention by the receptionists and the doctor or triage nurse is informed.
The receptionist will take details of your name, telephone number & a brief description of your problem. It is necessary for the receptionist to ask some details regarding the condition of the patient so that we can assess the urgency of the call. Triage Nurse, Sue Hodgkiss will ring you back later that morning (in order of clinical need) to discuss your problem and offer one of the following: - advice over the telephone (i.e. medication advice, home treatments)
- a routine appointment with a GP or nurse
- an urgent appointment with Sue at her Minor Illness Clinic at High Trees Surgery
- an urgent 5-minute GP appointment at the end of surgery (i.e. after 11am or after 5.00pm).
- advise you to call 999 for an ambulance.
